Vioxx saga goes international

July 12th, 2007 by Todd Hageman

Explosive new allegations that Vioxx is even more dangerous than was previously thought are roiling pharmaceutical giant Merck.

As the public waits for the official release of a new study conducted at the University of Oxford known as VICTOR, the Wall Street Journal gave a preemptive peak at the findings. According to the WSJ, the new study concludes that a patient’s risk of heart attack and stroke begins as soon as the drug is taken. This is contrary to a 2004 study that linked an increased risk of heart attack and stroke only after 18 months of using the painkiller.

Just 15 of approximately 28,000 Vioxx cases have gone to trial. As National Public Radio’s Marketplace noted, this study could be an important piece of evidence in the remaining lawsuits.

If you or someone you know has been hurt as a result of taking Vioxx, please call Simon Passanante attorney Todd Hageman toll free at 1-877-767-3108.
