Dangerous Helmets

August 4th, 2007 by John Campbell

Whether it is a bike, a moped, a scooter, or a motorcycle, people wear helmets  to protect themselves from head injuries.  Unfortunately, not all helmets live up to consumers’ expectations.

There are a number of helmet defects that are cannot be discovered until an accident has already occurred.  These defects result in severe injuries and sometimes death.  The most common problems include:

1) A helmet pops off at impact even though it is fastened tightly.
2) A helmet breaks on impact.
3) A helmet bends inward at impact.

All of three of these defects negate the benefit of a helmet, and they can occur because of poor quality control, improper materials, or defective designs. No matter what the cause, if a helmet breaks, bends inward, or cracks, it does not absorb shock as it should.   The helmet wearer is almost always hurt more badly than  they would have been if the helmet worked properly.

If you or someone you love suffered an accident and may have been injured more severely because a helmet did not do its job, please feel free to call me at 314-241-2929 or email me by clicking here.
