Drug/Supplement Side Effects
The attorneys at Simon Passanante have handled hundreds of cases against the nations biggest drug companies and diet supplement manufacturers. People injured from these drugs, either prescription or over-the-counter, and diet supplements, routinely ask for our help in representing them because of our experience in this area. We do not believe people should get hurt because a drug or supplement manufacturer failed to adequately test a medication before rushing it to market, or warn the public about a medication’s dangerous side-effects. We will fight to hold the manufacturers responsible.

We have a national practice representing clients from around the country who were injured by several unsafe drugs and supplements. Some examples of such unsafe drugs and supplements include:
Fen-phen, a diet drug pulled from the market in 1997 after people taking it suffered serious heart damage and even death.
Vioxx, a painkiller and arthritis drug known to cause heart attacks and strokes. The manufacturer, Merck & Co, pulled Vioxx off the market in 2004.
Zyprexa, an anti-psychotic drug made by Eli Lilly. We currently represent more than 300 people who allege the manufacturer failed to warn patients that Zyprexa’s serious side effects include diabetes and inflammation of the pancreas.
Ephedra, a diet supplement linked to several deaths and heart damage and banned by the Food and Drug Administration in 2004. (A federal judge lifted the ban in 2005.)
Avandia, a diabetes drug that has been linked to congestive heart failure and heart attacks, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. On August 14, 2007, the FDA issued it’s strongest warning, a “black box” warning emphasizing that the drug “may cause or worsen heart failure in certain patients.”
OxyContin, an extremely addictive pain killer. On May 10, 2007, the company that makes the painkiller, Purdue Pharma, and three of its executives pled guilty in federal court for misleading the public about OxyContin’s addictive tendancies.
Simon Passanante works closely with several other top law firms in the country in order to prosecute these types of cases anywhere in the country. These professional partnerships also allow us access to the most up-to-date information about the dangers posed by unsafe drugs.
Once an individual becomes a client of Simon Passanante P.C., an independent expert reviews his or her medical records and medical history to determine whether there is a link between the drug and the health injuries suffered by the client. Since the law firm opened the pharmaceutical litigation practice area in 2002, our clients have received more than $15.5 million for their drug-related injuries.
