Community Involvement
Simon Passanante sponsors a Trial Practice Seminar annually. This all-day seminar (occurring in June) features presentations by top trial practitioners. Proceeds from the seminar benefit Legal Services of Eastern Missouri.
Simon Passanante proudly contributed to the following worthy causes in 2006:
Black History Month/The Lawyers Association: Each February, the Lawyers Association of St. Louis teams up with the Mount City Bar Association to present its annual Black History Month dinner program.
Kids’ Chance Inc. of Missouri: Provides educational scholarships for children whose parents have been killed or seriously injured in a Missouri compensable Workers’ Compensation accident. In the 2005-2006 school year, Kids’ Chance awarded $95,000 in scholarships to 45 kids.
Habitat for Humanity Charity Golf Tournament: A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
Dan Devereaux Memorial Trust for the Danny Boy Golf Classic: Awards scholarships to local students. In 2006, assisted four students attending college prep high schools, three young women attending Marian Academy Middle School, and three sixth grade students attending Loyola Academy Middle School.
Cor Jesu: An all girls, Catholic, college prep high school. Proceeds fund technology improvements, professional development and perhaps more importantly, supplement financial aid for students.
Legal Services Justice for All Ball: Proceeds help provide civil legal services for low-income people. Only one in five people who contact Legal Services will be assisted due to limited funding. The funds raised from this Ball narrow the gap.
Daughters of St. Paul: Fund-raising for needs ranging from the educational expenses of the St. Paul sisters to roof repairs and new equipment.
Project Angel Tree: Provides Christmas gifts for children whose parents are incarcerated.
